Sandeman Porto Founder's Reserve — 15 Accolades

The NV Founder's Reserve Ruby Porto is a typical Douro blend aged for four years in used Portuguese vats. It was bottled on October 15, 2018, with a bar-top cork and 100 grams per liter of residual sugar. Like many Reserve Ruby Ports, this doesn't have much body or power, but has beautiful aromatics laced with traces of eucalyptus and classic flavors. It drinks great and has a little grip on the finish in its youth. At the moment it is a bit too shy in the mid-palate but that does not detract much from the pleasure it offers. In particular, it expresses its fruit character beautifully. This is nicely priced as well, a solid choice for bargain hunters in an easy-to-find wine.
