Using traditional Porto Wine technology, this wine was vinified at Quinta do Seixo. The grapes were both from Quinta do Seixo and Quinta do Vau. After a careful selection, the grapes were subject to soft-crushing and destemming before undergoing a very intense maceration, during alcoholic fermentation, via treading in granite lagares at automatically-controlled temperatures.
High quality wines from the 2014 harvest were carefully selected and blended to create this Sandeman Late Bottled Vintage Porto 2014. Aged for around 4 years, this wine was bottled without filtration treatment, in keeping with single harvest wines of this type.
Tasting Notes
An almost opaque ruby colour. The aroma of this wine has great complexity and intensity, with prominent notes of spices, like black pepper and ginger, along with hints of balsamic, such as cedar and tobacco box, splashes of black fruit and a dash of cocoa resulting from its excellent maturation. On the palate, it has firm tannins, a lively acidity, further notes of black fruit and spices, such as black pepper, that invite a long and harmonious finish.

After the harvest, the wine remained in the Douro region, where it was subject to its first racking during the winter. The following spring, it was moved to Vila Nova de Gaia, where it started the traditional aging process in oak casks. The final lot was obtained only further to rigorous selection of the wines, only those of the highest quality being used.
StorageThis wine can be consumed immediately, but will benefit from a growing complexity if aged for a prolonged period in the bottle. Estimated to reach its peak in roughly its 15th year, this wine has the 20-25 year longevity of a 'vintage', after which it will maintain the great qualities of a "cellar wine".
Over time, a natural sediment will form in the bottle, which should be opened with care and decanted for best results when it has been stored for some years. It is a surprising wine that will benefit from being opened some time prior to consumption. Serve at between 16°C-18°C.
EnjoyIts elegant and complex profile combines wonderfully with strong cheeses.
